My journey into being a doula began with my own pregnancy and birth experiences and the life lessons that they taught me. This journey began around 20 years ago, and it began with repeated losses of pregnancy. I had to learn about my body, discover what was happening, and learn to communicate with my doctor and how to gain his trust and respect in order to get what I wanted, a beautiful baby! I did just that and soon that baby will be 18 years old.
When I began as a doula I had a limited idea of what was right or good for women, I have learned over the years that every birth is unique and there is no “right” formula for birth. I support women who want an epidural, who want to go natural, who want to go as far as possible before getting their epidural. I support women at home (women at home do not have epidurals available) in the hospital and at birth centers or natalocs.
Birth is a exciting and uniquely momentous life occasion that will never happen again, not even with the next birth. If you would like to know more about me and how I can assist you in achieving your birthing time goals, call and set up your free consultation today.

I believe in woman's ability to give birth, that it is a normal physiological process and not a medical one. I believe that when women are given their all their options, they will choose what is right for their health and that of their baby. I beleive those present should trust the woman to know what is best for her and her baby. When women are allowed that responsibility and choose to take on that responsibility the satisfaction and the ability to live with the outcome are increased significantly. I believe that birth memories will last a lifetime. I believe that birth is as safe as life gets. There are no guarantees but even in the midst of unforeseen unhappy circumstances, positive memories can be preserved and the event processed rather than buried emotionally. I believe in the value of women in service of other women.
I believe that women were made to give birth. I believe that there are many factors that play into a woman's choice for her birth and that her emotional, physical, and psychological well being should be taken into account and her wishes supported. I believe all women have the right to the loving support of her partner and if she desires, a doula.
I also believe in normal birth and uphold the six care practices set forth by Lamaze International and promoted through the Utah Birth Network.
