The amazing benefits of a Hypnobabies Birth:
- Relaxed Mom and Dad throughout pregnancy, labor and birth
- Both parents participate in the Hypnosis and Fear Release sessions providing them with a sense of calm and confidence
- Shorter labors due to lack of resistance in the birthing muscles
- Fewer complications and interventions, as the body and mind stay completely relaxed during labor
- Posterior and Breech babies can be turned with hypnosis as well
- Fewer drugs or no drugs at all, means less risk of harmful side effects for mother and baby
- Elimination of the Fear/Tension/Pain Syndrome
- CDs and scripts are used in labor to effect post-hypnotic suggestions for deep, hypnotic relaxation and elimination of discomfort
- Easier recovery, with less pain, bleeding and “baby blues"

In addition to medical care and the love and
companionship provided by their partners, women need consistent,
continuous reassurance, comfort, encouragement and respect. The
doula is emerging as a positive contribution to the care of women in
labor. By attending to the woman's emotional needs, some obstetric
outcomes are improved. Just as importantly, the early mother-infant
relationships and breastfeeding are enhanced. Women's satisfaction
with their birth experiences and even their self-esteem appears to
improve when a doula has assisted them through childbirth. Go to
Doulas of North America
(DONA) for more information on doulas.

A midwife is a trained professional who offers expert care. Our practice is based on the belief in these basic principles: Pregnancy and childbirth are natural life events.
The midwife...
* monitors the physical, psychological and social well being of the mother throughout the childbearing cycle.
* provides the mother with individual education, counseling, prenatal care, hands-on assistance during labor and delivery and postpartum care.
* minimizes technical interventions.
* identifies actual or potential complications, provides emergency treatment until additional assistance is available, and refers women who require obstetrical attention.
As a new direct entry midwife Michelle is continuing her training necessary to take the CPM and LDEM (Utah Licensure). She currently works with a senior midwife to go over prenatal charts and make recommendations. She also attends the births with her as a backup. She also works with another DEM who is also working on finishing her requirements for the CPM.
